A GIANT STEP FOR QUALTIY IN EDUCATION: THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION ESTABLISHED QUALITY WARRANTY SYSTEM

The Ministry of National Education has taken a giant step in an effort to activate a quality warranty system at schools and founded a new inspection system.

The Ministry of National Education has recently focused on the quality of schools. It concentrated on training programs and support for students, teachers and school administrators and enriched the school environment in order to reinforce the school climate. After its decision to organize school based professional improvement training programs for teachers, the Ministry has taken a giant step in an effort to activate the quality warranty system at schools and founded a new inspection system.

Committee of education inspectors for every city
The previous inspection system of the Ministry was based only on observation and investigation while the new system includes counseling and inspection, monitoring and assessment functions. The Ministry has decided to found a committee of education inspectors in every city in order to carry out these functions.

Committees will convene at least once a year. The committee meetings will aim at preventing differences in the implementation of quality warranty systems in different cities.

Every school will be inspected
According to the new Quality Warranty System, schools will prepare their own assessment reports. These reports will include education indicators and plans required to achieve goals. Every school in the country will be inspected at least every three years and receive counseling services. The new system also foresees inspection of private dormitories at least once every six months.

Monitoring and assessment of education
Original assessment reports of schools will be used for setting goals for each city and these goals will be based on the education indicators. Inspection committees will carry out monitoring and assessment and assist the Ministry while making provincial plans.

"We have founded a new inspection system. The new system will include inspection and counseling support, assessment and monitoring functions in addition to traditional inspection methods. The quality warranty system will assist us to improve the quality of education," said Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer.
