DEPUTY MINISTER ŞENSOY HAD A MEETING WITH THE HEAD OF WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITY EXECUTIVE BOARD HEIMOVAARA

Accompanying Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer during his visit to Holland, Deputy Minister Sadri Şensoy had a meeting with the Head of Wageningen University and Research Center Executive Başkanı Sjoukje Heimovaara.

Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Nazan Şener, Director General for EU and Foreign Relations Hasan Ünsal, Education Attaché to The Hague Miyase Kaya and Education Attaché to Amsterdam Anıl Yılmaz accompanied Deputy Minister of National Education Sadri Şensoy during the meeting.
 
Şensoy expressed his happiness to be in the Wageningen University as a part of the visit organized in order to observe Holland's approach to the vocational education and successful practices in agriculture and husbandry and noted that the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye achieved many improvements in order to increase the quality in vocational education. Noting that the most important achievement was to boost relations between the labor market and vocational education institutions, Şensoy stressed that the Ministry has signed cooperation agreements with the leading companies in the market.
 
Şensoy stated that the Ministry also prioritized the development of practice skills of students adding that, "In addition to the reinforcement of vocational school infrastructure, we also provide students the opportunity to develop their practice skills in a real working environment. Meanwhile, R&D centers at these schools display an example for other education institutions as they focus on innovative production methods. We have increased the number of R&D centers in vocational schools to 55 within a year."
 
Şensoy stressed that vocational education institutions broke records in intellectual property rights applications and registrations and they started exporting their commercialized products.
 
Şensoy shared information about vocational education in agriculture and husbandry and went on to say that 264 teachers are giving agricultural education to 9 thousand 309 students in 146 agricultural schools.
 
Şensoy stated that the Ministry is planning to continue to work in order to transform vocational education in the agriculture field, provide scholarship programs for agriculture students and increase the number of R&D centers.
 
Meanwhile, Heimovaara expressed his happiness to meet with the Deputy Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish delegation. He stated that transformation in the vocational education system is very impressive and they are ready to make cooperation in this field.
