Reha DENEMEÇ - DEPUTY MINISTER


Reha Denemeç (date of birth. 20 Mayıs 1961, Elazığ), politician.
He is the Deputy Minister of National Education, former chief advisor to the President, a founding member of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), an honorary member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and co-chair of the Turkish-British Tatlıdil Forum. He is the member of board of directors of Defense Technologies Engineering Inc. (STM).

Political Life
Starting from the formation and establishment stages of the AK Party, and until the party won the elections in the 2002 General Election, he served as the advisor to the General President of the Republic of Turkey; Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Between 2001 and 2015, he served on the party's Central Executive Committee and served as vice president of R & D for 10 years. Between 2002 and 2015, he was elected as the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Ankara member of parlaiment in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and served as a member of the Democracy Committee. He has been a member of the International Committee of the Parliamentarians for Global Action, an impartial international non-governmental organization composed of more than 1000 active parliamentarians from 110 countries. He served as the advisor to the chairman of the Yeni Parti (New Party) established in 1993 to implement the "Second Exchange Program" based on the Presidential System of the 8th President Turgut Özal.

Council of Europe
Between 2013 and 2015, he served as President of the Turkish Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and Vice-President of the Council of Europe Parliament, centered in Strasbourg. He was elected an honorary member of the PACE and was honored with the "pro merito" medal of appreciation for his contributions and efforts.

Civil service
In 1986, he started to work at the State Planning Organization (now the Ministry of Development). Since 1987, he had worked in the Ministry of State in Charge of Treasury, Foreign Trade, State Planning Organization, Privatization and State Banks as a private item manager and then as a consultant. After completing his master's degree, he continued to work as an expert at the State Planning Organization, Directorate General for Economic Models and Strategic Research. In 1997, he was appointed as the deputy secretary general of the same institution and after a short time he continued to serve as deputy general secretary. He was also a member of the Technical Committee of the Turkish Standards Institute.

Private sector
He served as a board member of Başak Sigorta and the chairman of the board of directors of Ataköy Otelcilik A.Ş., the owner of Istanbul Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza Hotels. He worked as a senior manager, in the energy group of a conglomerate with investments in various fields Turkey and Central Asia in 2001.

Education and Military Service
He received his bachelor's degree in economics from the Middle East Technical University in 1984 and his master's degree in economics from the University of Delaware. He completed "Innovation for Economic Development" and "Management and Shaping Change in the Information Age" at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He served as a commando lieutenant in Eğirdir and Sarıkamış.

Family
He is married and has two children.
