KINDERGARTEN INAUGURATED AS A PART OF THE PROJECT TO INCREASE THE QUALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

A kindergarten was inaugurated as a part of the "Increase the quality and accessibility to early childhood education project" co-financed by Türkiye and the European Union in Samsun with a ceremony participated by Deputy Minister of National Education Petek Aşkar.

Deputy Minister of National Education Petek Aşkar, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Lutfihak Alphan, Head of EU Delegation to Türkiye Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and UNICEF Representative to Türkiye Paolo Marchi attended the ceremony organized on the occasion of the inauguration of prefabricated preschool classrooms built at the İlkadım Şehit Selman Özay Primary School garden.
 
Aşkar said during her speech at the ceremony that one of the prior concerns of the Ministry of National Education is disseminating and increasing the quality of preschool education and that they have increased the schooling rate of five year old students to 97 percent.
 
Reminding that the Ministry has increased primary school, kindergarten, preschool education and lifelong education activities at villages after reopening closed down village schools, Aşkar went on to say that, "In line with our policies and principles, we have dropped the quota to open preschool class to five students. We open primary school classes even if we only have one student in a village school. Our Ministry prioritizes early childhood education. We adopt an integrated approach in increasing the quality and accessibility of education."
 
Aşkar noted that the Ministry builds preschool classrooms in order to respond to physical area needs in order to increase accessibility adding that, "We have opened 360 preschool classrooms in 15 cities and we are working in an effort to open 240 classrooms in 8 cities." 
 
Following the speeches, officials inaugurated the prefabricated preschool classrooms and Aşkar distributed gifts to students.
