Minister Avcı attends diploma ceremony at Land Forces War School

Minister of National Education Nabi Avcı attended the 166th term graduation and diploma ceremony of the Land Forces War School.

Minister  of National Education Nabi Avcı, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Parliament Speaker İsmet Yılmaz, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Defense Minister Vecdi Gönül, Interior Minister  Selami Altınok and Chief of Staff General Hulusi Akar presented the diplomas of the 166th term lieutenants of the Land Forces War School.

The 832 graduates, 27 of them women and 42 from friendly and brotherly countries entered the stadium singing the “Harbiye March“.

The ceremony started with a greetings salute by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who said “marhaba Land Forces War School.”

After observing a one minute silence in honor of the martyrs and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, the crowd sang the national anthem. After that Land Forces War School Commander Major General İzzet Çetingöz said the soils of the motherland which have become sacred with the blood of the martyrs is a holy treasure and that it is hard to live on these “heaven lands” that is situated in the most valuable spot of the world and stressed if necessary the nation has to be prepared to pay a price. 

Çetingöz said to be able to “preserve this treasure and secure eternal peace and calm for the country you need an army that is respected and that is deterrent” and explained this can only be achieved with manpower that is well trained according to the requirements of our times.

Major General Çetingöz said the young graduate lieutenants woe hearts and minds are filled with the loved and affection for their country, flag and nation; who have the flame of action in their eyes are capable of undertaking any mission or task in the ranks of the brave Turkish Armed Forces and are more than prepared to sacrifice their lives for the motherland, the nation and their mission.

Head of the class for the term Infantry Lieutenant Sami Okutan spoke on behalf of the students  and then the cadets took an oath and then they inscribed their term on the wooden registry.

 

President Erdoğan honors top student

After the ceremony the diplomas were distributed and the CV’s of the top students were read out. School top student Infantry Lieutenant Okutan received his diploma from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, school second top student Infantry Lieutenant İsmail Aslan received his diploma from Parliament Speaker İsmet Yılmaz and school third top student Communications Lieutenant Zekeriya Kaleli received his diploma from Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu. School fourth top student Gendarmerie Lieutenant Hakan Gökmener received his diploma from Chief of Staff General Hulusi Akar.

Minister Avcı presented the diploma of Gendarmerie Lieutenant Tolga Yılmaz. Members of the protocol also presented diplomas to the top students and then the guests students were also awarded their diplomas.

At the handing over ceremony the students of the 166th term handed their colors and their swords to the 167th term students. The ceremony ended with a parade by the War School students.

Besides the state officials the ceremony was attended by First Lady Emine Erdoğan, force commanders ambassadors, military attaches and other select guests.
