MINISTER ÖZER ATTENDED THE OPENING OF THE SCIENCE FEST IN BURSA

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer attended the opening of the 9th Science Expo Fest in Bursa.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer expressed his happiness to be at the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Science Expo Fest in Bursa and made statements about education investments in the city.

Özer said that his Ministry allocated additional 2.2 billion liras to the 2022 investment budget of Bursa which was set as 520 million liras.

Noting that the Ministry will inaugurate 10 primary schools, 15 secondary and high schools and 64 independent kindergartens in the city, Özer stated that he was expecting to talk about success stories in his next visit to Bursa.

"Most permanent capital of a country is human resources," said Minister Özer, adding that the country had witnessed an important transformation in education in the last 19 years.

"All barriers preventing accession of children to all levels of education are lifted. Schooling rates are reaching OECD averages and we have improved the quality of education in vocational education. In addition to solving past problems, the last 20 years marked the improvement of accession to education," stated Özer.

Noting that the Ministry continued conducting science activities such as TEKNOFEST and MEB Robotics Contest, Özer said that they supported academic improvement of students as well as closely monitored technological developments and encouraged students who designed national and local products by using innovative approaches.

Özer reminded that they have increased the number of Science and Arts Centers (BİLSEMs) established in order to support special talented students to improve their skills from 183 to 355 adding that special talented children have the opportunity to enroll in these centers located in all cities of the country.

Özer also mentioned the intellectual and industrial property rights campaign of the Ministry of National Education.

"It is not possible to compete in the world if you fail to produce high added value products. This depends on intellectual and industrial property rights. Due to this reason, we prioritize intellectual property rights in basic education, secondary education and BİLSEMs.  The Ministry registered 7,200 products in 2022. Each and every one of these products reveals a paradigm shift and this will make Türkiye stronger in the future," said Özer.
