MINISTER ÖZER: THERE WILL BE NO MORE UNREGISTERED STUDENTS AFTER THE EARLY WARNING AND TRACKING SYSTEM

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer had a meeting with deputy ministers, director generals of the Ministry and provincial directors of national education of 81 cities in order to assess the education policies of the Ministry of National Education.

Keeping students who have the risk of dropping out of school in the education system by using early warning and tracking systems is among the issues discussed during the meeting organized in the MEB Tevfik İleri Meeting Hall and provincial directors of national education attended the meeting by using online platforms.
 
Minister Özer stated during the meeting that the Ministry has initiated various different projects in order to decrease dropout and absenteeism at schools and asked top officials of his Ministry to implement these projects at all schools of the country.
 
Özer instructed ministry bureaucrats and provincial directors of national education to closely monitor the issue and stated, "We initiated many project during this process when we focus on reducing dropout figures and we increased the schooling rate in secondary school from 90 percent to 95 percent within a year after the activation of early warning and tracking system. In 2023, we will work in an effort to reach 100 percent in secondary education schooling rate. We will reach out to dropout secondary school students, offer them options suitable to their conditions and enroll them in the education institutions."
 
Özer asked provincial directors to use MERNİS actively in order to reach the parents of students who the risk of dropping out of school and stressed the importance of guidance services in preventing absenteeism and dropping out.
 
Minister Özer went on to say that: "We cannot tolerate a single unregistered student. We have to do everything in our power in order to prevent this. I request each one of you to focus on this issue. There will be no more unregistered students in our country after we activate the early warning and tracking system."
 
Directors of related departments gave technical briefing about the system to the provincial directors of national education during the meeting.
